Gooderham Project

These Toronto homeowners were seeking a modern contemporary house architect to re-design their 1960’s era back-split home without having to completely demolish it. With that in mind, SMPL Design Studio thought up a proposal that left all the walls intact, and added a full second story addition to the front of the home. The modern renovation plan also included the flattening of the roof lines in order to appeal to the sleek and simple contemporary look typical of our designs. Just under 2500 square-feet, this home boasts spacious open living areas and houses an impressive four bedrooms, two and a half bathrooms and lovely outdoor space. While the brick, exposed concrete and natural wood tones of the home fit the aesthetic guidelines of our clients, the home itself has become a force of nature and modernity in what is otherwise a very quaint neighbourhood where traditional and conventional home design is prominent. The task was complete and the mission accomplished; the clients can’t get enough of their “forever home”.
