In 2011 a couple residing in Christina Lake, BC, were keen to have SMPL design an elegant yet simplistic structure they would be comfortable in long-term. This project was designed to accommodate the changing needs of our clients as they age in the home. As such, the entry level of the home is without stairs and contains a spacious master wing and all the main living quarters. A walkout basement houses an additional two bedrooms and one bathroom as well as office and recreational spaces for their children to enjoy without disturbing other areas of the home. Polished heated concrete floors, clean trim/door detail and an attractive IKEA kitchen encourage simplicity, functionality and affordability while maintaining a fresh and modern appeal throughout the space. Interior finishes were kept simple so as not to take away from the natural beauty of the surrounding mountainous landscape.
